I knew a lot about healthy habits. Then I had a baby.
Hi, I’m Brie.

For more than ten years, I’ve worked in health and fitness, helping people build stronger, healthier routines through exercise, nutrition and behaviour change.

I’m qualified in Fitness with Certificate III and IV, along with pregnancy and postnatal training qualifications, and before becoming a mum I thought I had a pretty solid understanding of what makes healthy habits stick.

Then I had my daughter.

Suddenly, all the advice I had spent years giving people had to exist inside a completely different reality.

Feeding. Naps. Broken sleep. Unpredictable days. Trying to remember what time the baby last ate while also realising I hadn’t eaten lunch myself.

I knew what would help me feel better. Eat properly. Move my body. Rest. Spend time doing things that made me feel like myself.

The challenge was making those things work in a life that suddenly looked completely different.

That realisation eventually became Flamingo Motherhood.
Why flamingos?
When a flamingo raises her chick, she can lose some of her bright pink colour as she pours nutrients and resources into her baby, and as she begins nourishing herself again her colour returns.

You can adore your baby and still notice that parts of you have faded a little - your energy, your routines, your confidence, or simply the things that made you feel like you. What I've come to think is that the answer isn't becoming exactly who you were before, but finding a way to care for yourself within the life you have now.
Your Brightest Pink Yet.
A different way to build healthy habits
Motherhood taught me that the problem with most healthy routines isn't a lack of motivation. It's that they assume every day gives you roughly the same amount of time and energy, and motherhood doesn't work like that.

That idea became the foundation of The Capacity Method. Instead of expecting the same from yourself every day, you adapt your habits to the Capacity you actually have.

On a High Capacity Day, that might mean a proper workout and cooking dinner.

On a Low Capacity Day, it might mean a five-minute walk and making sure you actually eat lunch.

Both count.

The aim isn't to lower the bar forever, it's to build healthy habits that don't completely disappear when motherhood gets hard.
Eat
Making nourishing food easier, even on busy and unpredictable days.
Rest
Finding realistic ways to recover, even when you can't control how much sleep you get.
The Method brings everything back to four areas.
Together, they create a healthier life that can flex with motherhood rather than constantly fighting against it.
Eat. Move. Rest. Flourish.
Move
Building movement into motherhood in a way that feels realistic, flexible and sustainable.
Flourish
Protecting the connection, identity, fun and purpose that remind you you're still a whole person as well as a mum.
This isn't about bouncing back
There is already enough pressure on women after having a baby. Flamingo Motherhood isn't about getting your old body back or racing somebody else's timeline.

You're allowed to want more energy, to feel stronger, to eat better, to regain your fitness, to feel good in your body, or simply to stop feeling permanently at the bottom of your own list.
Your goal gets to be yours.
Flamingo Motherhood is here to help you build healthy habits that actually work with life as a mum.
Why I created Flamingo Motherhood
New motherhood comes with an incredible amount of information about caring for your baby, but somewhere amongst the feeds, wake windows, nappies and routines, it can become surprisingly easy to lose sight of how you're doing too.

I wanted to create what I felt was missing, which is realistic support for the mum herself. Not another perfect routine or another standard to live up to, but a way to eat, move, rest and flourish that accounts for the fact that some days you have plenty to give and others you barely have anything spare.

Something warm enough to make you feel understood, and practical enough to actually help.
Start where you are
If you're in the thick of early motherhood, you don't need to overhaul your life.

Start with The Pink Reset - 14 days of tiny, nourishing actions designed to help you begin putting yourself back into the picture. And when you're ready for the complete system, The Capacity Method will show you how to build healthy habits around the Capacity you actually have.

You don't need to wait for motherhood to get easier to start looking after yourself. You can start where you are.
